Senate Republicans debated whether to cut the corporate-tax rate by less than President Donald Trump wants in a bid to come up with money to pay for other priorities and win votes for a sweeping tax package.
Among the most prominent proposals now under discussion is a plan to make the child tax credit more generous than currently envisioned, paid for by setting the corporate-tax rate at 22%, compared with the 20% originally envisioned in the Senate bill. The corporate-tax rate is currently 35%.
