BREAKING : House Passes Two-Week Spending Bill in Bid to Avoid Government Shutdown
The House passed a two-week stopgap spending bill, deferring until later in the month a bigger fight over what issues should be resolved before Congress adjourns for the year.
The spending patch, which will keep the government funded through Dec. 22, will avoid a partial government shutdown when its current funding expires at 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning. The Senate is expected to pass the two-week spending bill this week.
